JUDAS PRIEST LIVE CD/DVD/BLU-RAY TITLED BATTLE CRY HAS BEEN RELEASED

Friday, March 25th, 2016 marked the release of the new live set from legendary Judas Priest, Battle Cry, via Epic Records. Recorded live on August 1st, 2015 at Germany's Wacken Festival in front of an audience of 85,000, Battle Cry is available on a 15-track CD, with the entire show on Blu-ray and DVD (running over 94 minutes), as well as digital audio and video formats. The DVD and Blu-ray also contains 3 bonus tracks shot in Poland on December 10th, 2015 at The Ergo Arena, Gdansk, Poland.

What makes the show's track listing so appealing is it balances new classics ("Dragonaut," "Halls of Valhalla," "Redeemer of Souls") along with headbanging classics ("Metal Gods," "Electric Eye," "You've Got Another Thing Coming"), as well as key album tracks from yesteryear ("Devil's Child," "Beyond the Realms of Death," "Jawbreaker").

Originally formed during the early '70s in Birmingham, England, Priest is responsible for offering metal fans worldwide some of the genre's most influential and landmark albums (1980's 'British Steel,' 1982's 'Screaming for Vengeance,' 1990's 'Painkiller,' etc.), while helping spread metal music to audiences not normally associated with the genre (Live Aid in 1985, and a surprise appearance on American Idol in 2011), and helping popularize the now instantly recognizable "denim and leather" look.

For decades, Judas Priest has been one of the greatest live bands in the entire heavy metal genre. And as evidenced by Battle Cry, Priest rock harder and more ferociously than ever.

Metal Blade Records to release 'Metal Massacre 14' compilation in April

In 1982, Metal Blade Records put out its first release: Metal Massacre, a compilation album that included Metallica, Ratt, and many other influential artists. Now, Metal Blade will be releasing Metal Massacre 14 on April 8th - and continuing the legacy of the first album - the CD/LP/digital formats will once again contain a sampling of contemporary heavy metal. To pre-order your copy - and to hear clips of each track - please visit: metalblade.com/metalmassacre

Primordial's Alan Averill - who compiled the Metal Massacre 14 track-listing - comments: "'Metal Massacre' is an institution that has been dormant for far too long. It served as a vital first step for many bands who are far too numerous to mention back in the early 80s. For fans, it was often the first time engaging with many of these acts, some of whom went on to become household names-- some of course didn't, but the rough and ready underground character of 'Metal Massacre' is what set it apart from other compilations back in the day.
Those old recordings captured the vitality and energy of the time: all analog hiss, rattling drums, roaring bass and feed-backing solos...No pro tools compression, cut and paste editing or triggered drums back then. You set the tape rolling and then played for your life.
It was in this spirit that I went about compiling a new 'Metal Massacre', with an old school mindset.
Not the most modern sounding, but the bands that capture a more DIY underground spirit that resonates with what 'Metal Massacre' once represented.
Of course the musical climate is different, and you probably won't be listening to the next Metallica, but what is important is that this spirit does not die and that Metal Blade still supports this underground, underdog ethos.
So I give you 'Metal Massacre'! Back from the dead! Here's to the next one!"

TOKYO BLADE VOCALIST CHRIS GILLEN SPEAKS ABOUT HIS ROLE

Tokyo Blade recently announced that they will perform with two vocalists, Chris Gillen for shows in Canada and The Americas and the returning Vick Wright for classic 'Night Of The Blade' reunion shows in Europe.

Chris Gillen comments on this slightly unusual arrangement:

"I'm very honored to be able to continue to serve Tokyo Blade and their fans. The performances with the original lineup in Europe last year were truly a privilege. As a dedicated warrior fighting to help preserve the NWOBHM style, I will always step aside whenever original vocalists Alan Marsh or Vick Wright are able to perform and celebrate in Tokyo Blade's glory.

As a member and a fan I want only what is best for the die hard fans as Tokyo Blade forges on, and I will do whatever I can to bring their historically amazing metal come to life whenever service calls. May the metal gods be with us all."

Live dates in 2016 have been announced in Spain, Holland, Belgium, France & Germany with more to follow. South American shows will take in Mexico, Brazil and Columbia with final dates to be confirmed soon.

TOKYO BLADE ANNOUNCE CLASSIC LINE-UP REUNION

British Classic Metal band Tokyo Blade today announce the official return of not one, but two vocalists who have formed part of the band's lineup in previous years.

Vick Wright (1984-1985) and Chris Gillen (2008-2010) will rejoin the four original members Andy Boulton, Steve Pierce, John Wiggins and Andy Wrighton and perform alternate live shows depending on where in the world the band is playing.

Guitarist, founding member and former Focus on metal guest Andy Boulton explains:

"Firstly can I say that individually Chris and Vick are two of the best vocalists I've ever played with and two of the finest voices in rock full stop. It's been a pleasure to work with Chris again recently, and now to have Vick available to reunite a 'classic' lineup for the band is great for us and particularly the fans. Night Of The Blade is such a classic album and holds a place in everyone's heart so to be able to perform those songs again with Vick will be very special."

"Playing live is so important to us and over the past few years it's been difficult because most of the band is based in the UK and our vocalists have been in another country so we've come up with the perfect solution. Chris lives in Michigan so can perform all shows in the US, Canada and South America and Vick will be based in the UK to do everything in Europe for the Night Of The Blade reunion shows."

"It's a somewhat unique situation but I'm sure the fans will jump at the chance to see the classic lineup again. At the end of the day everything we do is for the fans so it's such a joy to be able to do this."

Chris Gillen never recorded with the band during his first tenure but toured with the lineup during 2008-2010 and performed with the band during 2015. His other band Overloaded has toured with the likes of Alter Bridge, Godsmack, Hellyeah, Dope, Skid Row, Slaughter and countless others

Vick Wright replaced original singer Alan Marsh in time to record vocals for the band's now classic 'Night Of The Blade' album in 1984 and its follow-up 'Black Hearts and Jaded Spades' before departing and moving to the US where he's had a successful career as a musician, writer and film director. His band Johnny Crash toured with Motley Crue and Pretty Maids and at one time included former Guns n' Roses members Matt Sorum and Dizzy Reed. The award-winning supernatural thriller To Hell With A Bullet which Vick wrote and directed was recently released in the US and will be available in Europe soon.

Live dates in 2015 have been announced in Spain, Holland, Belgium, France & Germany with more to follow. South American shows will take in Mexico, Brazil and Columbia with final dates to be confirmed soon.

Criminal streams new album, 'Fear Itself', online

Set to release their new full-length, Fear Itself, this week (March 11th) via Metal Blade Records worldwide, Anglo-Chilean thrashers Criminal are now streaming the album in its entirety online. To hear Fear Itself - and to pre-order the record in various formats! - please visit: metalblade.com/criminal

Recorded at Criminal bassist Danny Biggin's HVR Studios in Suffolk, UK, with a "no bullshit" approach to recording, the band purposely avoided the vices of modern metal production such as samples, quantizing and amp simulators. The striking artwork by renowned Romanian artist Costin Chioreanu (At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Mayhem, etc.) perfectly represents the bleak, dystopian atmosphere of the lyrics, which denounce warmongering, misinformation, exploitation and other ills of modern society. A metal band with a hardcore attitude, Criminal's longevity is a testament to their honesty and passion; they're in it for all the right reasons.

Fear Itself track-listing
1. Intro
2. Down Driven
3. False Flag Attack
4. Shock Doctrine
5. The Needle and Knife
6. Scream of Consciousness
7. Summoning the Apocalypse
8. The One Who Speaks at Night
9. Animals to Gods
10. Deep in the Rot
11. Wasted Youth
12. Carne Molida

Read on for some acclaimed reviews of Fear Itself

"'Fear Itself' achieves its intended result - pounding the heads and hearts of those who desire a true to form metal record, and should be one of those albums in all post-thrash/death collections." - DeadRhetoric.com

"...a mix of grim, brute-force steamrolling and galvanizing thrash savagery, with a massive sound." - NoCleanSinging.com

Criminal line-up:
Anton Reisenegger - vocals/guitars
Sergio Klein - guitars
Dan Biggin - bass
Zac O'Neil - drums

VEKTOR Release New Track "Charging the Void" On NPR

Highly complex progressive sci-fi themed metallers VEKTOR have teamed up with NPR for the release of a brand new track, "Charging the Void".

The track is taken from the band's upcoming new album, 'Terminal Redux', which is due to be released on May 6th worldwide.  'Terminal Redux' is the band's third full-length release and first ever concept album, further exploring the themes that first appeared in the title track from their previous album, 2011's 'Outer Isolation'.

Listen to "Charging the Void" now on NPR at http://n.pr/1Ly5pt4

VEKTOR vocalist/guitarist David DiSanto comments:
"'Charging the Void' is the first track of the album and sets the scene for the story that follows.  It begins with the lone astronaut from 'Outer Isolation' who is actually an isolation test subject.  He overrides the auto-pilot and is compelled to go forth on his own and search for his purpose.  Years in isolation have twisted his mind and he teeters between insanity and vengeance.  His travels bring him to the now-exploded star, Alshain.  Within the stellar nebula he finds a life-giving molecule that revitalizes him and extends his life.  With an entire haul of the new found molecule, he believes to have found his purpose.  He has an epiphany about life and death and decides to bring his life-giving molecule and his new way of understanding to the Cygnus Regime.
"There are many hidden meanings in the song that relate to balance, power, and life and death, so keep an ear out!"

As well as letting their imaginations flow free lyrically, VEKTOR have also embraced some unusual audio elements during the recording of 'Terminal Redux', going as far as to enlist the vocal assistance of a group of Philadelphia soul singers to contribute additional texture to the riff-heavy opus.  Listen out for the introduction of Naeemah Z. Maddox and RoseMary Fiki towards the end of "Charging the Void".

'Terminal Redux' is available to pre-order now on CD and vinyl, including a number of limited signed editions.  Reserve your copy now in Europe at http://webstore.earache.com/vektor or in North America at http://uswebstore.earache.com/vektor

The album is also available to pre-order now on iTunes at http://bit.ly/terminalredux-itunes
'Terminal Redux' was recorded between the band's home studio and Panther Pro-Audio in Philadelphia, with additional mixing courtesy of Byron Filson at Villain Studios in Arizona.

CORNERS OF SANCTUARY release "Wrecking Ball" video.

Former Focus on Metal guests CORNERS OF SANCTUARY have announced the official release of their second music video for "Wrecking Ball" from the album Metal Machine released on Metalizer Records from Germany. The new effort follows last December's video for "Left Scarred.”

Corners of Sanctuary guitarist Mick Michaels has checked in with the following comment: We planned to include a heavier visual support for Metal Machine, more than we had done in the past with previous albums.Expect at least two more videos to follow in the coming months.
The Wrecking Ball video, as with the previous one, was produced and directed by Philadelphia-area Indie artist Zen Say. who stated: "It's been a pleasure working with Corners of Sanctuary and sharing ideas across multiple mediums".

"Wrecking Ball" incorporates the now public domain scenes from the 1936 British science-fiction film, “Things to Come” – an adaptation of H.G. Well’s story depicting a world at war. The original film was produced by Alexander Korda and directed by William Cameron Menzies. The music video is also laced with on location shots filmed with the band.

The video's message is centered on the horror and devastation brought on during such conflicts and the effects it has on every walk of life. "Though the clips of the movie are based on a fictional story, the reality of what war holds is all too real to simply dismiss," added Zen Say.
"Wow, holy freakin’ fudge pop intense," exclaimed lead singer Frankie Cross, who again finds himself the focal point of the video's imagery.

"This song captures the horror, patriotism and pride of war while the images convey a seriously, emotional landscape. The metaphor of the song will be clearly felt by some... like a wrecking ball, “stated lead singer Frankie Cross when asked about his take on the video's backdrop of war for the song. ”It's just so beautifully frantic... the true star is the production team," he added.

Corners of Sanctuary is currently supporting Metal Machine with a string of live performances throughout 2016 including shows with Butcher Babies, Mind Assassin, and Killen along with performances at the 2016 NEPA Metal Meltdown Festival and this summer’s Metal Eternal Fest Tour.

A COS Crowdfunding page has been created to support the band’s touring efforts and is now live at their official website: :

NEW SCOTT WEILAND BOOK 'MEMORIES OF A ROCK STAR' TELLS THE INSIDE STORY OF THE LATE GREAT ROCK SINGER

From late 1992 and throughout the remainder of the decade, if you spent any amount of time watching MTV or listening to rock radio, you were bound to come in contact with a tune by Stone Temple Pilots. With such classic releases as 'Core,' 'Purple,' and 'Tiny Music…Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop' selling millions and spawning countless hits ("Sex Type Thing," "Plush," "Creep," "Vasoline," "Interstate Love Song," "Big Empty," "Big Bang Baby," etc.), STP is now widely considered one of rock's all-time great acts.

And during this time, there were few rock frontmen who commanded an audience and generated as many headlines as Scott Weiland. Despite fronting another successful band, Velvet Revolver, and issuing his own critically acclaimed solo albums, Weiland could not overcome his demons - passing away in 2015 (at the age of 48).

Multi-platinum Canadian rock artist Lee Aaron returns with her anticipated new rock album titled Fire and Gasoline

On March 25th, 2016, multi-platinum Canadian rock artist Lee Aaron returns with her hotly anticipated new rock album, Fire and Gasoline

Ever timeless, seemingly ageless, and artistically fearless, Lee Aaron has sustained a three-decade strong career based on the powerful songwriting and vocal delivery that are at the heart of Fire and Gasoline (Big Sister Records/ILS/Caroline). Featuring songs like the title track Fire and Gasoline, Wanna Be, Heart Fix and Bitter Sweet which evoke the influences of Led Zeppelin, Heart, Bowie, The Runaways and Fleetwood Mac while weaving in and out of Aaron’s unique artistic vision. It is a vision that has led her to sales of close to a million copies in Canada alone, multiple awards and nominations, and a fervent following around the world. Iconic videos for songs like Metal Queen, Whatcha Do To My Body, Hands On and Some Girls Do were staples of MuchMusic in Canada, and continue to rack up massive views on YouTube, bringing Lee Aaron classics to a new generation.

Fire and Gasoline was recorded at Vancouver’s The Farm studio (better known to rock aficionados by its former name, Little Mountain Sound) with acclaimed west coast engineers Ben Kaplan (Mother Mother, Hedley) and vocal engineer/keyboard guru John Webster (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, The Cult). Their Gold- and Platinum-certified ears give Fire and Gasoline a contemporary sonic sheen while also honouring the energy of the “off the floor” approach of real musicians interacting in real time.

The album is available for pre-order now, here: http://tinyurl.com/je4qzgk

Tom Boy, the first video and single, was penned for Aaron’s daughter and was inspired by the fearless, unself-conscious energy of pre-teen girls. The video features Aaron’s daughter (on guitar) along with her school friends as Aaron’s backing band. “It was incredibly cool watching the girls pick up the song as well as the instruments in an afternoon and give the performance they did. Off camera, we were all eating pizza and clowning around and that joy translated onto the screen. It really captures the essence of the tune.” Lee, a fan of vintage film and video, wanted the girls to have that ‘Jailhouse Rock’ look.

Fire and Gasoline is truly a classic rock n’ roll album, with an emphasis on “class”.

This summer Lee Aaron will be performing to crowds of thousands at major music festivals across Canada, and is looking towards select live dates in Europe as well.

One of Richie's favorite albums, the self titled (and only) release from Shadow King, turns 25 this year. To mark that milestone he talked drummer Kevin Valentine into making an appearance on the show. After Shadow King Kevin went on to work with Cinderella and Donnie Iris as well as some uncredited work with KISS. Also this week we have a bit of discussion on some new metal releases.
