Craig Goldy & Author James Curl Guest on Episode 400 of Focus on Metal

Episode 400 - Focus on Dio

Seems like only yesterday we were exploring Master of Puppets on episode 300 and here we are 100 shows later. Hard to believe we have done 400 episodes of Focus on Metal. So with that in mind I guess it’s time to do a show focused on Ronnie James Dio. First up we talk with longtime Dio guitarist Craig Goldy. Besides talking about Ronnie, Craig also discusses his latest project Dream Child.

Also on the show we talk with author James Curl about his book “Ronnie James Dio: A Biography of a Heavy Metal Icon.”

Episode 352 - A Brief History of Doug Aldrich Part 2

Lion, DIO, House of Lords, Burning Rain, Whitesnake, The Dead Daisies, Revolution Saints we could go on and on but the common denominator in all of this is guitarist Doug Aldrich. This week we continue our career retrospective on Doug with a look at what he was up to from 1993 up to the release of Revolution Saints second release “Light in The Dark”. An amazing career and he’s still going strong blasting out amazing new tunes on his Les Paul Gold Top.

Doug Aldrich Guests on This Weeks Focus on Metal

Episode 351 - A Brief History of Doug Aldrich Part 1

Doug Aldrich has been a frequent guest here on Focus on Metal. They guy has played guitar with some major players in the world of rock and metal and yet he’s still one of the most down to earth people you’ll ever talk with. Given his long history we’ve always wanted to do a career retrospective with him and this week we’re doing it. So on this episode we run through Doug’s career up to Bad Moon Rising and we’ll go from there up to Revolution Saints next week. Speaking of Revolution Saints, be sure to grab a copy of their new one “Light In The Dark”.

THE RODS and Veronica Freeman to perform at 2015 DIO Day in Cortland, New York.

American 80's heavy metal power trio THE RODS featuring special guest vocalist Veronica Freeman "The V" (BENEDICTUM) have announced their performance at the 2015 DIO Day to be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the J.M. McDonald Sports Complex in Cortland, New York.

The Rods band members and The V have released the following statements on the joining of forces for this special show:

(Guitarist David "Rock" Feinstein) - After Ronnie's untimely passing in 2010, the city of Cortland, in honor of Ronnie, decided to make July 10th, officially DIO DAY. Every year around that time, we celebrate and honor the man that gave us so much good music and inspiration. His talent as a singer, musician, song writer and producer were unparalleled. The Ronnie James Dio Music Scholarship Fund was started in 2010 and every year a $1,000.00 scholarship is given to a student that is pursuing a career in music. This year our fund raising concert will be held on June 20th, at the J.M. McDonald Sports Complex in Cortland, N.Y. Any donations to this worthy cause are accepted by check or money order, and can be mailed to: The Ronnie James Dio Music Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 533, Cortland, N.Y. 13045 "Keep the Music Alive"..

(Drummer / Producer - Carl Canedy) - The Rods European shows, which included Veronica Freeman performing a Dio Tribute set, were a huge success. The US fans have been asking if she'd be performing with us in the US. The answer until just now has been "no". Fortunately for us, and the fans, she's shooting a video for her new CD, "Now Or Never", the following day in NYC which will allow her to perform. The Rods with Veronica performing a Tribute to Ronnie James Dio, at this Dio Day Concert, is truly special for each of us. We're all proud to be a part of this Memorial Fund event in Ronnie's name.

(Bassist Garry Bordonaro) - I’m really happy that Veronica is going to be able to perform at our Dio Day show. She is a perfect fit for this celebration, and I think the fans are going to love her!

(Vocalist Veronica Freeman "The V" - BENEDICTUM) - Sure had a blast in Europe with these crazy guys and it was a wish in the back of my head to be able to do Dio Day. Now, it is a reality.... ! Lets roll!!
