Maxxxwell Carlisle releases LOUDNESS cover. Details for new solo album.

As discussed on Focus on Metal, HELLION lead guitarist and solo artist Maxxxwell Carlisle has released a cover of "Like Hell", originally recorded by Japanese metal legends
LOUDNESS on their 1985 "Thunder in the East" album. Featuring Fang VonWrathenstein (Lords of the Trident) on vocals, the cover track is one of several
singles to be released for Carlisle's upcoming full length solo album which will feature covers and new original material.

The new album, entitled "When The Clock Strikes Metal", will be Maxxxwell's 6th solo album and features a host of guest vocalists and guitarists.

"I've long been a huge fan of LOUDNESS and in particular, Akira Takasaki's guitar playing. My upcoming album features covers as well as originals
so it was a perfect opportunity to pay tribute to some of my favorite players and bands."

In addition to his upcoming solo album, Maxxxwell continues to work with HELLION on a new live album, new studio tracks and touring.

Full album details and release dates TBA.

The single is available NOW on iTunes, Amazon.com, and Google Play, and can be streamed right here on SoundCloud:

Michael Sweet, The Claddagh Pub, Lawrence, MA on 6/19/15

This was a show I had been looking forward to because Michael doesn't do many of these and I knew he would delve a little deeper into not only the Stryper catalogue but his own solo material. Acoustic shows can prove difficult, the artist has to have songs that are effective for the stripped down format and also have the confidence to pull them off. Not a problem for Michael who also added some great in between song stories. The audience even helped him with his mic stand a number of times. After some introductory banter with the audience  Dying Rose from the Sweet/Lynch cd was a great opener. It's probably the only opportunity you will get to hear any of that material live and that's a shame. As for Stryper tunes there was the expected crowd favorites Calling On You and Honestly but Michael also dusted off Lady and All For One from Against The Law plus Always There For You from In God We Trust. Some solo material including the title track I'm Not Your Suicide from his last solo release and a sprinkling of covers rounded off a fantastic set.

Richie.

THE RODS and Veronica Freeman to perform at 2015 DIO Day in Cortland, New York.

American 80's heavy metal power trio THE RODS featuring special guest vocalist Veronica Freeman "The V" (BENEDICTUM) have announced their performance at the 2015 DIO Day to be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the J.M. McDonald Sports Complex in Cortland, New York.

The Rods band members and The V have released the following statements on the joining of forces for this special show:

(Guitarist David "Rock" Feinstein) - After Ronnie's untimely passing in 2010, the city of Cortland, in honor of Ronnie, decided to make July 10th, officially DIO DAY. Every year around that time, we celebrate and honor the man that gave us so much good music and inspiration. His talent as a singer, musician, song writer and producer were unparalleled. The Ronnie James Dio Music Scholarship Fund was started in 2010 and every year a $1,000.00 scholarship is given to a student that is pursuing a career in music. This year our fund raising concert will be held on June 20th, at the J.M. McDonald Sports Complex in Cortland, N.Y. Any donations to this worthy cause are accepted by check or money order, and can be mailed to: The Ronnie James Dio Music Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 533, Cortland, N.Y. 13045 "Keep the Music Alive"..

(Drummer / Producer - Carl Canedy) - The Rods European shows, which included Veronica Freeman performing a Dio Tribute set, were a huge success. The US fans have been asking if she'd be performing with us in the US. The answer until just now has been "no". Fortunately for us, and the fans, she's shooting a video for her new CD, "Now Or Never", the following day in NYC which will allow her to perform. The Rods with Veronica performing a Tribute to Ronnie James Dio, at this Dio Day Concert, is truly special for each of us. We're all proud to be a part of this Memorial Fund event in Ronnie's name.

(Bassist Garry Bordonaro) - I’m really happy that Veronica is going to be able to perform at our Dio Day show. She is a perfect fit for this celebration, and I think the fans are going to love her!

(Vocalist Veronica Freeman "The V" - BENEDICTUM) - Sure had a blast in Europe with these crazy guys and it was a wish in the back of my head to be able to do Dio Day. Now, it is a reality.... ! Lets roll!!

My Life, My Way is a song written for and about my best friend, Jim Nunis, who died from Cancer 4 years ago. It is dedicated to the memory of both Jim Nunis and Billy Hilfiger. Two great guitarists and even greater people who left us way too soon. Gone, but not forgotten.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN Bringing Shred Sled to X GAMES

Texas shredders IMMORTAL GUARDIAN will be out on their infamous Shred Sled during the X Games this Friday, June 5, at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. IMMORTAL GUARDIAN's Shred Sled comes one day ahead of METALLICA's June 6 X Games performance.

In case you're unfamiliar with the Shred Sled, it's a mobile heavy metal spectacle on wheels that has made appearances at festivals such as SXSW, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and River City Rockfest, receiving press from SPIN Magazine and multiple music publications.

"If you were one of the lucky hundreds who stumbled upon Immortal Guardian during one of their 'Shredding In the Streets' gigs, you won't soon forget... Immortal Guardian might have been SXSW's most sincerely earnest act." - SPIN MAGAZINE

The IMMORTAL GUARDIAN Shred Sled will be making three appearances throughout Friday's X Games at the following locations (site map available upon request):
12:30PM - NEXT X PARKS Area
2:30 PM - NEXT X PARKS Area

See below for footage of the IMMORTAL GUARDIAN Shred Sled in action at Fun Fun Fun Fest 8, or visit this location

"Immortal Guardian's Shred Sled - The most metal thing at this year's X Games next to Metallica"

Immortal Guardian has been making a name for themselves as an up and coming independent metal act with a Fender sponsorship, Brazilian Tour, and an album mixed by the producer of Judas Priest already under their belt. The band is highlighted by its members astounding virtuosity starting first with founding member Gabriel Guardian, sponsored by Fender Guitars at the young age of 22 and known for his insane ability to shred on guitar AND keyboard at the same time. Next is Brazilian born vocal siren Carlos Zema who has been named one of the top 10 metal vocalist in Brazil by several media outlets in 2007. The rhythm section is filled out by the dynamic duo of Cody Gilliland, one of the most technical speed/progressive drummers emerging onto the scene, and master of the five-string fretless bass, Thad Stevens.
