CATTLE DECAPITATION release new video for "Your Disposal"

Cattle Decapitation has launched a brand new video for "Your Disposal" from their most recent album, "Monolith of Inhumanity." The band worked with Mitch Massie once again to create an irreverent, grotesque piece of video.

Cattle Decapitation's Travis Ryan comments: "Director Mitch Massie has presented us all with a bizarre retelling of the story of Adam and Eve using themes from our latest album "Monolith of Inhumanity." Here we see Eve giving birth to humanity, a living, breathing piece of primordial meat birthed into the dirt making its way through the garden of eden, hellbent on destruction... A clean and conscious monolith foretelling what could be possible given the fact that humans exhibit superior traits of intelligence, instead the earth is flooded with technological fallout and debris by the hands of man. This video is very much a prequel to our other videos "Forced Gender Reassignment" and of course, "Kindgom of Tyrants"."

Straight from the underground comes the newly launched Unholy Anarchy Records and Distro. Launched in the summer of 2013, Baltimore-based Unholy Anarchy is guided by the philosophy to release quality underground extreme music without boundaries - the only criteria being quality music from great bands.

Run by true metal fans for true metal fans, Unholy Anarchy focuses primarily on vinyl releases, but is open to a variety of mediums from acts that share a similar vision. The label's first release will be a seven-inch split with Belgium's AGATHOCLES and Pittsburgh, PA's HOGRA. Due out in early August, the split will be a co-release with Blackseed Records, Jerk Off Records and At War With False Noise.

On the distro side of things, Unholy Anarchy has hundreds of titles on picture disc, 12", 10", 7", CD and cassette formats in stock. Throughout July, the label is offering 15% off all 12" vinyl purchases and always offers free shipping on any order over $50.

Unholy Anarchy is an independently owned and operated family business that focuses on maintaining the importance of physical music formats, especially vinyl.  The label was founded with the hopes of delivering quality underground metal, punk and hardcore from artists and labels we respect.  They are dedicated to helping the scene, the bands, and delivering music to you.  Unholy Anarchy has made every effort to stock rare imports and hard to find albums for our U.S. customer base, and hope you find Unholy Anarchy a collective that you can stand behind.

Problems With This Bill

I see that Lamb Of God are going out soon with Killswitch Engage and Testament as special guests. Now I'm a huge Testament fan, was years ago and am now. Seen them twice in the last couple of years, firstly on a co-headline tour with Anthrax and secondly headlining with support from Overkill and Flotsam and Jetsam. They are killer live.

So how do you feel about them playing under these two bands, are they both better then Testament? I would say no. Are they bigger then Testament? Well probably yes. Are they more relevant today then Testament? Again I would say no, Dark Roots and Formation aren't exactly duff releases. Do they cite Testament as an influence? Probably yes.

And there's my gripe with all this. I hate it when newer bands headline over acts I feel are more deserving. Call it bad luck in the past or bad management or whatever but Testament in my eyes should not be playing half hour warm up sets for these bands. Same could be argued with Slayer who seem to always be supporting the flavor of the day like The Avenged Sevenfolds and what not. Motorhead are the same.

I know a paycheck is a paycheck. If you are going to Lamb Of God go early, Testament will come on and leave you wanting more. I hope they fucking blow the 2 headline bands off the stage.

THE FUZZ DRIVERS Signs Worldwide Deal With Ripple Music

RIPPLE MUSIC is proud to announce the signing of acclaimed, hard-hitting Portugese retro-heavy rockers, The FUZZ DRIVERS to their ever-expanding roster!

Southern Rock from a Portuguese rock band? That would be CORRECT! The Fuzz Drivers are a blasting new sound formed in Lisbon, who are claiming fast fame in Portugal. The talents of Marcelo Vieira (vocals), Sergio "Mad Mag" (guitar), João Lopes (bass) and Duarte Carvalho (drums) packed a powerhouse of sound into their self-titled debut album, and now the band plans to do the same with Ripple Music.

Influences from music of the past four decades rages to the forefront of The Fuzz Drivers sound creating a definite Southern Rock vibe that is then blended through the hard rock cannon of Soundgarden and Led Zeppelin. Plowing the same massively heavy fields of 70's/80's classic hard rock that fueled their self-titled debut, The Fuzz Drivers aim to build upon the crushing success of that first release and take their rocking brand of heaviness to a new level with their Ripple Music debut which will be released world-wide in 2014. The band plans to follow up with a full-scale European tour and hit all the major heavy rock festivals.

Fuzz Drivers commented yesterday upon the new alliance; "Joining the Ripple Music family opens up a whole new exciting chapter for The Fuzz Drivers. Not only we are deeply honoured and humbled to join a roster of amazing bands, but we are thrilled to work with a label with people who love Heavy Rock and pour their hearts into what they do in a way that is rarely seen these days! With all that energy, love and rock'n'roll combined, we know that amazing things are bound to happen!"

For the growing legions of Ripple fans, known as the Waveriders, The Fuzz Drivers will be another must-hear addition to the ranks of bands that already include such heavy rockers as Mos Generator, Devil to Pay, Mothership, Trucker Diablo and Ape Machine. You can bet that the combination of The Fuzz Drivers and Ripple Music will be a combustible mixture!

Read a full review of The Fuzz Drivers' debut album at this location

In September, The Fuzz Drivers will hit the road with King Lizard and The Scams. Dates are as follows:

September 12th - SCO - Edinburgh, Bannerman's
September 13th - UK - Bradford, Gasworks
September 14th - UK - Southampton, ROXX
September 15th - UK - London, The Underworld
September 16th - B - Tongeren, Club Sodom
September 18th - GER - Hamburg, Rock Café St. Pauli
September 19th - GER - Cologne, MTC

September 20th - GER - Hamminkeln, KuBa

"Rock and roll, that's what it's all about on this excellent debut album from Portuguese band The Fuzz Drivers - old-school, rollicking, joyfully played rock n' roll that isn't trying for over-processed, sterile perfection, but rather wants to rock your heart, and rock your soul, and rock your body, and make you feel something (maybe even think something). The Fuzz Drivers succeed on all counts." - Hard Rock Nights

"When Danny Vaughn introduces you to a band, you stand up and take notice. The Fuzz Drivers are a Portuguese based band with an undying love for old school rock n' roll. Think Rival Sons meets The Burning Crows. The album is a blistering success that will get you in the mood for the summer sun as well as the mud soaked fields of the UK festival circuit"- Phil Weller & Edward Laing, Rock Fusion

"Rock and Roll will never die! That is what I think when I hear a band like The Fuzz Drivers for the first time. Classic rock has inspired bands all over the globe, and The Fuzz Drivers are dishing out the best 70s style rock and roll I have ever heard from Portugal."  - Hard Rock Hideout

"Welcome to The Fuzz Drivers. They mean business ladies and gentlemen. This debut album proves that these guys could blow some minds." - Rockulus Maximus

HEARTWORK, the classic album from British grindcore/death metal legends CARCASS, has been remastered with Full Dynamic Range audio and is available now on limited edition CD and LP.

Originally released in 1993, HEARTWORK was CARCASS' biggest-selling album, and their first to land in the top 50 of the UK charts.  The album has been specially remastered from the original tapes using Full Dynamic Range (FDR) mastering, allowing the music's nuances to shine through and giving the whole album a more ferocious, immersive and dynamic sound than ever before.

The typical method of delivery for mastered audio involves using heavy limiting to restrict the dynamic range and increase perceived loudness.  However, this results in unwanted artifacts caused by the process, such as the increased likelihood of distortion.  This led to what is known as "the loudness wars", with the dynamic range of music being restricted more and more in an effort to make it sound louder.

Full Dynamic Range, on the other hand, delivers music at its optimum sound level dynamically, leaving the listener to decide on the playback level.  This means that the track is not heavily limited to increase perceived loudness - you hear the tracks as they were made and intended to sound, with no loss of quality.

For more information about Full Dynamic Range audio, go to

The HEARTWORK Full Dynamic Range edition is available now on CD, including four bonus tracks and a limited edition slipcase sleeve, and is also available on limited edition coloured vinyl LP in the following quantities and colours:

100 - Desensitized White (SOLD OUT)
200 - Right Ventricle Blue (SOLD OUT)
300 - Left Ventricle Red (SOLD OUT)
400 - Perpetual Decay Green
900 - Bleeding Dark Black

Prey for the Future was recorded earlier this year by John E Wooten (Widow U.S) and mastered by Jamie King at The Basement Studios.

Chicago's DIAMOND PLATE have officially revealed that their upcoming new album will be titled PULSE.

The follow-up to DIAMOND PLATE's 2011 debut album, GENERATION WHY?, was recorded with producer NEIL KERNON (JUDAS PRIEST, NEVERMORE, DEICIDE, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD) at Studio Chicago in the band's hometown.  DIAMOND PLATE revealed the album title to fans by posting one letter each day over the last week until the title was complete.

"During the months of recording, the album took on a life of its own.  Our goal was to capture the energy of a live band, and working with Neil gave us the freedom to create the music we've always wanted to play.  A straightforward explanation of the title 'PULSE' is that it represents music, or life, in its purest form.  The real meaning behind the album can only be discovered by the person using his/her ears."

The artwork for PULSE was created by artist GUSTAVO SAZES (MORBID ANGEL, ARCH ENEMY, SEPULTURA).

PULSE is due to be released on August 20th in the USA via Century Media/Earache Records and on digital formats in Europe on August 19th.

Review - Stryper at Hampton Beach Casino 7/12/2013

I couldn't make Mike Tramp's acoustic set so can't comment on it. He was meeting people at the merch booth and signing stuff when I got there. The line was pretty long too so he must have gone down well. Don't judge him only on the White Lion stuff, those Freak Of Nature albums are really good.

Stryper are a great and I mean great hard rock band. I couldn't give a shit about the lyrics as long as the tunes are there. They throw some bibles throughout the show but don't force feed the message down your throats. They also have all the original members in the band who still seem to enjoy playing with each other.

Opening the set with To Hell With The Devil the band relied heavily on that album playing six other tracks from it in a sixteen song set. Not surprising as that's their biggest. One For All from Against The Law was a welcome addition but nothing from In God We Trust. They did play one newie from the upcoming Hell To Pay release and it's super heavy. They played three covers; Shout It Out Loud, Heaven and Hell and I'm On Fire, all great but that means leaving out some original stuff.

Top notch musicianship, amazing vocal harmonies, great vocals from Michael Sweet and a band that still seems to have fun on stage. What's not to like about that? Praise the lord.

Career Break

You hear Gene Simmons harp on in every interview that Kiss are behind the Beatles in the number of gold records sold. That's great and all that and the band have had a stellar career and love it or hate it are not going away any time soon. Lick It Up, Animalize, Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot In The Shade, Revenge and Carnival Of Souls. How many of them were gold records? I would say at least 4.

So here's my point. Why do Kiss ignore their non-make up period so much. If they are so embarrassed about it then don't count these gold records in the total. They play practically nothing from these live except maybe Lick It Up. Don't give me the original members bullshit either. If they played something from Revenge that's more members of the band on stage who played on that album then any other number in the set.

Want to find non-make up merch? Don't try the Kiss website for starters. Nothing, zero, zilch. That period was all a dream and a bad one at that. I'm a bigger fan of the non-make up era so I'm fucked if I want to buy a t-shirt. It's the E-Bay and empty the wallet option.

So Bruce Kulick flies the flag for those records and it's sad he has to do that alone. Some of those records are solid top to bottom. The band should be proud of that era and it should be represented on the merch page on the website.

CRAVEN IDOL: London-Born Blackened Thrashers To Release Debut On Dark Descent Records

The black/thrash bastards in CRAVEN IDOL, who signed with Dark
Descent Records earlier this year, are set to release their full-length
debut, Towards Eschaton, on digital, CD and vinyl formats this fall.

For the debut, CRAVEN IDOL have completed eight new offerings
of ripping black metal, channeled with a vitriol akin to Nifelheim and
Absu, with further allegiances to the dark arts of Inquisition and Samael.
Musically the release is an assault on those who neglect the potent
legacy of the 1980s, while thematically it attacks all proponents of
unfounded spiritual dogma.

Album track "To Summon Mayrion" is currently streaming at this location

To Summon Mayrion

Codex of Seven Dooms
Aura of Undeath
Left to Die

Spawned in the pits of London, Craven Idol creates ritual offerings in
the earliest traditions of black and thrash metal. In 2006 a self-released
demo tape materialized, and its original fifty incarnations were quickly
devoured. Starlight Temple Society then fanned this early flame with
a tape re-release. 2010 saw the release of the 'Ethereal Altars' EP on
MCD and vinyl via Vengeful Attakk / Hammer of Hate. In early 2013
Craven Idol signed with Dark Descent Records for the release of their
debut album, on CD and vinyl. The oath endures...

So how do you balance the show? People want interviews and others want discussion. Personally I love both especially if we can tie our banter in with the interview in some way or another. Discussion episodes are great IF the topic is relevant, you can talk a LOT about it and STAY on the topic. Believe me it is easy to get sidetracked but I suppose that can make it good too. If you have too many discussion episodes back to back you are in danger of repeating yourselves and then what do you do.

We are in a lucky position at the moment because we have a lot of interviews done that we have yet to use and believe you and me that's a great thing. Yet we don't want to run an episode with only interviews either. We can get interview times ranging from 20 or so minutes to over an hour depending on the artist. The length and quality of the interview dictates the show. If it's long and great then what do you leave out? Then you add the track of the week on top of that.

I've been lucky in getting some interviews done lately and our base for getting these has widened considerably. So hopefully many great ones to come. We will always chat too so that's never going away. It's just a feast or a famine one way or the other.

RIVAL SONS have confirmed dates for a US tour, including a number of shows with rock legend SAMMY HAGAR (MONTROSE, VAN HALEN, CHICKENFOOT).

RIVAL SONS will be kicking off their tour on August 20th with a number of headlining dates, and have also been invited to perform a select number of shows with one of their heroes, SAMMY HAGAR, on his "Four Decades of Rock" summer tour.

RIVAL SONS guitarist SCOTT HOLIDAY comments:

"Well, we're finally hitting our homeland for a handful of tour dates.  Ask and ye shall receive!  And what a cool thing to get to go out and support a legend and super cool fella like Mr. Sammy Hagar.  I think this one's gonna be a blast!"

SAMMY HAGAR, himself a long-time fan of RIVAL SONS, comments:

"These guys are the real thing.  Their first CD was great, showing off a lot of styles from the '60s, '70s and '80s.  These boys have done their homework... now road-tested.  The Sons have made a CD (HEAD DOWN) that truly lives up to the band's name.  This is a giant step from a great previous CD... not easy.  But for those that like classic rock but are tired of the same old songs, I highly recommend this CD... and even better, go see 'em live - they deliver."

2 Gigs Back To Back

Hit the Hampton Beach Casino in New Hampshire last weekend for 2 gigs. One I purchased a ticket for ages ago and the other was a last minute very nice surprise to meet and interview one of the musicians for something large in the works. Both gigs not strictly metal but here goes:

Foreigner 6/29

Lets not avoid the elephant in the room here and say Mick Jones wasn't on stage so that equals no original members. Can you imagine the die-hard Kiss fans if faced with this, there's enough shit for them to throw when two of the originals are absent. The impression I got was either most people didn't know or didn't care as long as the show was good.

It was a fantastic show. Hit after hit after hit after hit after hit and on and on carried off with a band on top of its game. Opening with Double Vision the band played a rocking 11 song set in front of a sell out crowd. Highlights for me were Dirty White Boy and an extended version of Juke Box Hero where the musicians really showed their chops. It's the third time I have seen the band with Kelly Hansen on vocals and he really has made the material his own, he looks as comfortable fronting the band in clubs as he does arenas. They also do a great unplugged version of Say You Will with everyone adding harmonies. Being a big fan of the band I would have loved them to play some stuff off Inside Information like The Beat Of My Heart or Heart Turns To Stone or maybe Tooth And Nail from Agent Provocateur but what do you leave out. Leave your pre-conceptions at the door and go take a peek.

Tesla 6/30

Visits by the band to Hampton Beach are now are now on a annual basis. I caught them play a great show here two years ago and missed them last year so I was looking forward to this one. To be honest it wasn't as good as the Foreigner show, it was good but I was expecting more. The setlist didn't rock as much as I would have liked. Opening with I Want To Live from Forever More was a great choice but there really was nothing else in the set that had that upbeat tempo. Instead it was mid-paced fare like Hang Tough, Heaven's Trail, Lazy Days Crazy Nights and Mama's Fool that dominated. All solid stuff but a little samey for me. Heavy on the slower stuff too, Love Song, What You Give and The Way It Is got aired. They pulled out Into The Now and Cumin' Atcha Live for the unplugged set that would have been far better with electricity. New song Taste The Pain sounded promising but don't tell the dickhead in front of me who jeered when they announced they were playing it and only wanted Mechanical Resonance. I love it when bands play new stuff and it was only one song early in the set for christ sakes.

As for vocalist Jeff Keith, well there's more meat on a butcher's pencil. He is painfully thin. That wouldn't matter if he could sing like he used to but he can't. You could really see him struggle on the unplugged Paradise. He is also not the most dynamic frontman out there often letting the excellent Frank Hannon take over the mic to talk to the crowd. The majority of the beer and sweat soaked crowd did leave happy and the set finished strong with Modern Day Cowboy and an encore of Gettin' Better and Little Suzi. Just slip in Edison's Medicine, Rock Me To The Top or please please please Don't De Rock Me to liven it up a little next time.
