The release date of the AXE CRAZY album „Angry Machines“ on limited vinyl is February 26th, 2016. The pre-order phase will start on February 12th, 2016 in the webshop. Limited to 200 vinyl copies Pure Steel will re-release the AXE CRAZY debut EP „Angry Machines“ (2014) through Pure Underground Records. Like the name – borrowed by the self titled single of Jaguar from 1982 – already suggests, the quintet from Poland has committed themselves to the spirit of the glorious, early days of NWoBHM. On four songs, they enlarge the Metal underground with majestic twin guitar leads, rapid, but tight doublebass drumming and melodic, powerful high pitched vocals. References like the eponyms, early Maiden stuff and a decent dose of early US Metal always can be perceived. But still, AXE CRAZY sent up an adolescent briskness, that can’t be found very often nowadays. PLEONEXIA "Break All Chains" - Debut release date: 17th January 2014

From our friends at Pure Steel... The release date of the PLEONEXIA album "Break All Chains" is January 17th, 2014. The preorder phase will start on January 3rd, 2014 in our webshop. We are proud to present a brand-new band on our sub-label Pure Underground Records, PLEONEXIA, which was founded in Turin/Italy in 2012. The sextet describes their music as “philosophical metal”; but you could also say that it is an interesting and fascinating mixture of classic Heavy Metal, some epic influences and a small dose of earthy, honest Hard Rock. The ten songs on the debut album “Break All Chains” all convince with discreet keyboard/synthesizer passages, clear but powerful vocals by frontman Michele Da Pila, virtuosic, partly double guitar leads and a precise drumming, without sounding in the least dull or uninspired. Sing-along-compatible, sometimes almost anthem-like choruses, a driving double bass and some slightly progressive or quieter parts can all be found on this album. “Break All Chains” really holds the promise of its name. Pure Steel to release JAVELIN - "Fragments Of The Inner Shadow" Oct 25th

JAVELIN from Hamm (Germany) are the newest band on our sub-label Pure Underground Records. The band was founded in 1982 as classic Hard Rock band but their first release was only in 1997. It was a five-track EP "Seasons of Grey" that was self-released, just as their EP "Dark Broken Land" 12 years later. Now - 30 years after the band was formed - we present their first full-length studio-album "Fragments of the Inner Shadow". This album features one hour of classic Power/Prog Metal with high and powerful vocals, which is a perfect blend of European and US traditions. Harmonic and neatly played twin-leads in 80s tradition, driving and precise double-bass parts, anthem-like catchy choruses and some progressive touches are a perfect frame for the twelve transparent and enthusiastic songs. But you can also find some quiet parts, like the half-ballad "Healing", which blends naturally and effortlessly into the overall picture without being kitschy. Pure Steel to release BLACK HAWK - "A Mighty Metal Axe"

Powerful, straight and true Heavy Metal.

That's the story from Pure Steel as they prepare to release "A Mighty Metal Axe" from Blackhawk on October 25th.

BLACK HAWK from Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) belongs almost among the founding fathers of the classic Metal scene. The band was formed in 1981 but had only some self-releases before they split up in 1997. Their first album “Twentyfive” was released in 2005 after their reunion. Their second album “Dragonride” and the two following were released by Karthago Records. Now our Pure Underground sub-label presents their latest album “A Mighty Metal Axe”. Their musical style has changed not very much since the 2010 album “Straight to Hell”; the eleven tracks feature mostly hard Metal. Straight and quick double-bass songs like “The Fighter”, “Heroes” and the final song “Beast in Black”, catchy SAXON-like pounders like “Nightrider” or “Killer”, or the more quiet and exceptional “FashionVictim”, which got an acoustic-guitar intro: “A Mighty Metal Axe” breathes the pure spirit of the glorious German Metal- and NWoBHM-times. Udo Bethke’s rough but very melodic voice, the harmonic interplay of both guitars and the firm production which has lots of rough edges give BLACK HAWK’s sound a special kind of originality, which makes them distinct from the multitude of releases. JACKAL "Cry Of The Jackal" Rerelease on CD and first time on vinyl

On October 18th Pure Steel imprint Pure Underground will rerelease Cry of The Jackal.

Bands like PICTURE, EMERALD, EAR DANGER and also the recently reunited JACKAL were very popular in the Netherlands in the 80s because of their unique sound. JACKAL’s only release “Cry of the Jackal” of 1989 came out in a time when Heavy Metal was already declining. This album comprises six tracks (about 30 minutes) and is dominated by very catchy high class Heavy Metal of the old school, concise guitar melody lines and driving drums. Until now, the album was released only as a CD self-pressing with 500 copies, but now 24 years later we present a new, remastered Vinyl-Edition. It is also limited to 250 copies and includes five bonus tracks from the 1987 second demo (both tracks) and the 1991 “The secret inside”-demo (three of five tracks). Finally, one more forgotten classic is available again on “black gold”

After the Karthago Release of “Molten Metal in your Back” the band kept very quiet. But now STAINLESS STEEL have got together again - like many 80s bands- and they are still true to pure Heavy Metal! Their new album sounds like it was directly from the 80s and many of the songs have been composed in the time in between, which gives you a very good impression of the bands development but, of course, this is nonsense. What do we mean by development? The band still is true 80s and this is perfect. No one needs 80s bands who want to sound modern. In many cases this is a catastrophe. If you should have accidentally confused STAINLESS STEEL from Germany with STAINLESS STEEL from Hungary, you will also get traditional Metal. But if it’s the same quality, that’s for you to decide!
