Mike Fraser Helps Us Wrap UP The Little Mountain Sound Project

Episode 311 - Little Mountain Sound Part 11

This week we finally wrap up our Little Mountain Sound Studio Project. We started interviews for this project back in August of 2014. We ran the first part of the project back on FoM 224 back in March of 2015 and 27 months after we started this we are finally wrapping it up.

This week our guest is producer/engineer Mike Fraser. I mean come on who else could we possibly have as the last guest for the project than the guy that was so helpful in getting us in contact with some of the amazing people from the studio. It’s always great to have Mike on the show as he is a wealth of information and this week is no different.

Big thanks go out to Mike as this project would not have happened without his help.

Just Posted, Tony Franklin on Part 4 of Focus on Metal's Little Mountain Sound Project

Episode 243 - Little Mountain Sound Part 4

This week we bring you the fourth installment in our Little Mountain Sound Studio series. Our guest this week is none other than bassist and all around cool guy, Tony Franklin. Tony has played with an impressive list of artists including Gary Hoey, Marty Freidman, Ripper Owens, Doug Aldrich, and Whitesnake. Did I mention the guy has also played with Jimmy Page in The Firm? Jimmy Freaking Page! Of course he was also a big part of Blue Murder with John Sykes and Carmine Appice. So yeah, I think this guy knows his way around a studio so he's a perfect guy to talk about his time at LMS. These days when he's not enjoying his Ninja blender Tony is playing with Rated X and Heart of Storm with Doug Aldrich.

"Guitar Wizards Vol. III And IV" Artwork Revealed! Features Members Of Whitesnake, Dio, Poison, More

Yesterday, Versailles Records revealed the artwork for their upcoming Guitar Wizards Vol. III and IV compilation. The cover features artists Bruce Kulick (KISS), Tony Franklin (Whitesnake/The Firm), Jeff Healey, Tracy G (Dio), Chris Poland (Megadeth), Blues Saraceno (Poison), Xander Demos (Sabbath Judas Sabbath/XDB) and other included guitar players. The album is scheduled for digital release before Christmas. Physical copies will have a February 2015 street date.  Guitar Wizards Vol. I and II was released earlier this year.

"We're very honored to have Xander Demos featured on the cover, alongside some of the most incredible guitar players in rock and metal," said Demos' manager, Michael Stover of MTS Management Group.  "This compilation has been a long time in the making, and we're very excited for it to finally be coming out.  It's sure to be a huge success!"

Xander Demos and his band, XDB (renamed Raxus Prime) contributed the track, "Dancing Through Daggers," which was to be the first single from their debut album.  The track was mixed by JK Northrup (King Kobra/XYZ). Xander will also be contributing an all-star track to the Versailles Records Queen tribute album, also scheduled for 2015 release.
