MURASHITA Streams Title Track from "Inescapable Damnation"

MURASHITA, the new project masterminded by renowned guitarist, producer and engineer Masaki Murashita, has partnered with No Clean Singing for the exclusive premiere "Inescapable Damnation." The title track off the band's upcoming debut EP features contributions from MEGADETH bassist Dave Ellefson and drum guru Kevin Talley.

Inescapable Damnation, which includes performances from David Ellefson (Megadeth), Kevin Talley (Suffocation, Six Feet Under, Chimaira), Kelly Conlon (Death, Monstrosity) and Rodney McGlothlin (Voice of Dissent), is set for an October 16 release. Pre-orders are now available at masakimurashita.bigcartel.com.

"Fun, bouncy and unafraid to tear your fucking throat out Inescapable Damnation gets at the beauty of heavy metal..."  - Two Guys Metal Reviews

"Kings are born kings, so don't waste your time and pay homage to Murashita. Now, you mortal!" - Dark Souls United

Masaki Murashita first showed his scorching riffs and powerful songwriting, along with his blistering and aggressive vocal style with the critically acclaimed modern thrash band Hemoptysis in 2007 and he has been clawing his way to the top ever since. Combining elements of melody, thrash and modern extreme metal, Masaki has molded his own razor sharp brand of metal that is moving into the next stage of metal evolution.

MURASHITA is now releasing the debut solo EP, Inescapable Damnation, which features some of the top players in metal - including David Ellefson (Megadeth), Kevin Talley (Suffocation, Six Feet Under, Chimaira), Kelly Conlon (Death, Monstrosity), Rodney McGlothlin (Voice of Dissent) - and mixing by award-winning producer, Ryan Greene (Megadeth, NOFX).
Early previews of the new MURASHITA release performed on EMGtv were met with overwhelmingly positive reviews. The international tour to support Inescapable Damnation begins in Japan this coming September.

STANDOUT TRACK "SPACE INVADERS" FROM ETHAN BROSH GETS THE VIDEO TREATMENT

The buzz continues to build for guitar hero Ethan Brosh, and it will undoubtedly only grow stronger now that a brand new video has been filmed for one of the many standout tracks from his latest album, 'Live the Dream,' titled "Space Invaders.”

The clip puts Brosh's impressive six-string skills front and center, which can be viewed by following this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfYp4VdBzk4&feature=youtu.be

As Brosh himself explains, "A music video is something that has to go hand in hand with the music that it's associated with. It is part of the art as a whole. It is the image that will stay in the minds of the listeners for as long as they listen to that particular musical piece. When I have a music video done, I take the process almost as seriously as I take my music. A lot of time, energy and attention to detail gets into play when we shoot or edit a video."

And Brosh has nothing but praise for the video's director, Seth C. Brown. "This video was made by Seth C. Brown who can turn any rushed, impossible to shoot scene with bad lighting into a beautiful work of art! I'm very proud of the new video for 'Space Invaders,' and can't wait to make more videos for this record!”

'Live the Dream’  was mixed by Max Norman (Ozzy, Megadeth), and featuring the talents of world class bassist Dave Ellefson, as well as the mastering of Bob Ludwig (Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden), and an album cover painting by Joe Petagno (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd), 'Live the Dream' was issued via Carmine Appice’s label Rocker Records LLC on March 4th , and is available for purchase via these links:

Megadeth To Perform On Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday Night

Heavy Metal titans Megadeth will take a break from the hugely-successful Super Collider World Tour to appear on ABC‚s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, Dec. 16.  Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. EST on ABC. For more info, visit ABC.go.com. Megadeth previously appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Halloween in 2011, where they performed in full costume to celebrate the release of their album „TH1RT3EN‰.

A band that always does the unexpected, Megadeth recently paid tribute to late country music legend George Jones at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.  Playin' Possum: The Final NO SHOW! was to be Jones' final career performance.  Megadeth shared the stage with over 100 notable country, rock and R&B artists including George Strait, Alan Jackson, Kid Rock, Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and more.  Their performance was a moving duet featuring Jamey Johnson covering Jones' "Wild Irish Rose", a ballad lamenting the postwar trauma of a homeless Vietnam war veteran.

"As expected, attendees didn‚t much know what to make of strange bedfellows Jamey Johnson and Megadeth, who brought a hint of heavy metal to a cover of Jones' Celtic-tinged 1998 lost classic "Wild Irish Rose." Showing restraint, the band steered clear of blast beats and finger-tapped solos, and singer Dave Mustaine ˆ confident though way out of his comfort zone ˆ dialed back his trademark high-pitched howl, giving perhaps the most subtle vocal performance of his career, and one that was undeniably unique." ˜ Adam Gold, RollingStone.com

"The performances ranged from faithful renditions of hits like Alan Jackson's take on "He Stopped Loving Her Today," [George] Strait and Martina McBride's "Grand Tour" to Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton's "I Barely Get By" and [Sam] Moore's "Blues Man." But the show also featured unlikely teamups ˜ like Megadeth and Jamey Johnson taking on "Wild Irish Rose."

"Heavy metal is all about rebellion, and George was definitely a rebel," Megadeth lead singer Dave Mustaine said. ˜ Chris Talbott, Associated Press

The long-awaited Super Collider World Tour kicked off in St. Paul, Minn., on Nov. 23 and is currently criss-crossing the country before heading abroad to Australia, Sweden and England in 2014 (full touring schedule below).

Here‚s what critics are saying about the Super Collider Tour:
"It is nothing short of amazing to watch them shred live like no other artists out there today. Frontman and guitarist, Dave Mustaine is a beast on the strings, laying waste to his axe... Music has been known to evoke emotions and memories of different times in our lives, but it‚s a real feat for a performance to spark a visceral reaction in the gut by instruments alone. This is not to say that the lyrics do not speak to some, but personally, it was all about the music (and visuals)... If you haven't had a chance to see Megadeth live, make the time. It will likely be one of the most sonically evocative shows you'll see this year, possibly ever." ˜ Patricia Jones, Examiner.com

"Raw and relentless, Megadeth took the stage by force as they always do. After three years and two albums together, this line-up is well-oiled metal machine that's showing no signs of rusting in peace anytime soon." ˜ Matt Bishop, TheRockRevival.com

"After seeing Megadeth several times in the past few years, their command onstage and their hold on their fans has grown stronger. Not to mention the crowd gets wilder, bigger and more diverse. Dave Mustaine and the rest of his crew have created memorable songs that will inspire and entertain future generations to come." ˜ Liz Ramanand, Loudwire

„Megadeth showed up Saturday night in Bethlehem and delivered the kind of performance one would expect from the metal vets: loud, heavy and intense.‰ ˜ Dustin Schoof, The Express-Times

„But everyone should know that the fountain of youth isn‚t diet or exercise or the vitamins you see on late night infomercials. The fountain of youth is listening to heavy f*cking metal and going crazy at metal shows, and no one plays heavy f*cking metal concerts better and crazier than Dave Mustaine and Megadeth.‰ ˜ Elliot Levin, Examiner.com

Focus on Metal 148 with Joel McIver is now available

One of our favorite guests is back again this week, metal author extraordinaire Joel McIver. Joel just finished up writing Dave Ellefson's bio "My Life With Deth". It's a great read and we hope that this show will encourage you to get yourself a copy. Of course we can't resist hitting some other current metal topics with Joel as well as getting some sneak previews of upcoming books.

Our featured track this week is from Germany's Stainless Steel from their new release Metal Machine on Pure Underground Records

Grab the episode on iTunes, The Cast Iron Ring and of course at the Focus on Metal site

Joel again

Had another great chat with author Joel McIver last night. It nearly didn't happen because I screwed up the time of the call. Happen it did thank god. We had him on the show to primarily promote the upcoming David Ellefson book My Life With Deth out next month. The talk will be a companion piece to the recent interview we had with Dave.

We got into the the book a lot but of course with Joel we went here there and everywhere in metal. Like us he loves to talk all things metal and the clock was switched off. Sabbath, guitars, Download, NAMM and so much more including a funny Bob Nalbandian story that Scott had better not edit out. He's just a great guy to talk to and we will have him on again next year when Max Cavalera's book comes out.

So half and hour of Dave and over 70 minutes of Joel to come. That's a wrap.

Richie.

Review - David Ellefson with Joel McIver- My Life With Deth (Howard Books)

So Dave has had his say and now it's Junior's turn. For a lot of people out there Mustaine is Megadeth. He's the leader, voice, chief songwriter, lead and rhythm guitarist, producer etc. His is the definitive book on the band.

Ellefson says in the book that in Megadeth he is the lieutenant to Mustaine and he is fine with that. Often he played the role of diplomat within the band smoothing over some of the cracks, teaching the new members the parts. The good cop to Mustaine's bad one. He is an integral part of the band's history but a band member nonetheless. This book is about his journey in life
                                                         and not a Megadeth book.

Often you want the story to skip the childhood bits and get to the good stuff but they are important here. His rural and Lutheran upbringing near Jackson, Minnesota are in stark contrast to his L.A lifestyle and his descent into drink and  drugs. Many of these rock star bios drug dependencies can be traced to a broken home and/or abusive parents. Not Ellefsons whose family by all accounts have strong ties, religious and work values. It's peer group pressure and a hatred of L.A for not living up to his expectations that started it all. Having older chemists like Gar, Chris and Dave left him with little choice. It's amazing but you'd never know it from the music which was and still is fantastic.

Having Mustaine as the outspoken voice of the band allowed Ellefson's  drug use to go largely under the radar. He was the quiet guy in the band and he admits he was a functioning addict. Boy did he burn the candle at both ends. Booze, coke, heroin, methadone, the lot. It's all laid bare here. The Monsters of Rock gig in front of 107,000 at Donington should have been a triumph but instead he was dope sick because he couldn't score in England.

A fear of death, a realization of what he had become and the fact that no matter what he took he couldn't get high anymore allowed him to see what he really was. A rock star for sure but a sorry excuse for a human being. It had to end and the solution started with his religious upbringing and giving his life to god and following a principle he calls Good Orderly Direction.

Being sober since the early 90's allows Ellefson to tell with great clarity how his personal life has improved and give his take on subsequent albums and tours with Megadeth. His time outside of the band working for Peavy and going back to college are described as some of the happiest times of his life spiritually if not financially. God and family are everything to him. Anyone expecting him to throw some of the past band members under the bus well you won't find it here, he's just not that kind of guy. Once a diplomat always the diplomat, high or no.

Kudos must go to Joel Mciver for badgering Ellefson to tell the tale and getting it onto paper. It's not overtly preachy as Ellefson himself says in the final chapters that his religious lifestyle works for him and is a constant work in progress. It is his story, it is well told and the guy is still here making great music.

Richie.

MEGADETH ANNOUNCE U.K. TOUR, NEW STUDIO ALBUM

Tuesday, February 12, 2013 ˆMetal heavyweights Megadeth have today announced that they will be touring the U.K. in June of this year. They will play headline shows in Newcastle, Glasgow, Manchester and London. Megadeth tickets go onsaleat 9 a.m. on Friday, February 15, and are available from www.livenation.co.uk or www.ticketmaster.co.uk

For a heavy metal band that‚s been around for nearly three decades, selling more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including 11 Grammy® nominations, scoring five consecutive platinum albums˜including 1992‚s two-million-selling Countdown to Extinction˜Megadeth‚s founder, leader and primal guitar-slinger and lyricist Dave Mustaine feels the best is yet to come, especially after signing an exclusive worldwide deal with Universal Music Enterprises(UMe).
Currently working in their studio in San Diego on their 14th studio album titled Super Collider, Mustaine, along with bassist Dave Ellefson, drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick, are looking forward to its release in June 2013.

Megadeth‚s Super Collider is the first release through Mustaine‚s new label, Tradecraft, through UMe.
„It was a real thrill for us to learn there was an opportunity to join Universal,‰ said Mustaine during a break in the sessions. „It seems like every time you see a great band or music video, it comes from the Universal label. Being with Universal is by far the most exciting and prestigious home for Megadeth ever! We are electrified with what the future holds and the possibilities such a powerhouse like Universal will bring for us all. We have worked with some great people over the years, and it is amazing to see so many of them on the Universal team for our new record, Super Collider. If Megadeth being here isn‚t satiating enough, having Tradecraft as my own label is going to be really amazing for metal bands around the world.

With a new found energy with the band, Mustaine is raring to go, preparing for his latest tour, marking the 20th anniversary of their best-selling Countdown to Extinctionalbum. Mustaine added, „Shawn, Chris and David have all been feverishly contributing some great music and I believe we are doing our best work ever together in the studio right now!
„Megadeth is not just one of the most successful metal bands, but one of the most influential rock bands of the past 30 years,‰ said UMe President/CEO Bruce Resnikoff in making the announcement. „They continue to be a huge draw on the road with their longtime fans as well as continually adding new fans. I look forward to working together with them.

With the recent acquisition of EMI, UMe now brings together Megadeth‚s classic, 14-year, seven-album Capitol catalog, which includes one multi-platinum release (Å’92‚s Countdown to Extinction), four platinum records (Å’86‚s Peace Sells... But Who‚s Buying?; Å’88‚s So Far, So Good... So What?; Å’90‚s Rust in Peace; Å’94‚sYouthanasia), and one gold (Å’97‚sCryptic Writings). In all, the band has scored five U.S. Top 10 albums (including 2007‚s United Abominations and 2009‚s Endgame) and two Top 5 releases, with 2011‚s TH1RT3EN debuting at No.1 on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart.
